WHO I’M I?
Title: (I love my language) (I’m Arabic) (Speak Arabic) (Who am I)
Emotional statement: Our Arabic language is very important to us. It’s the language of our holy book, the Quraan and it’s the foundation of our identity. Although more than 350 million people speck Arabic around the world, Arabic language dies everyday and people do not give the right of this beautiful language. They don’t even speak it in their life and always use alternative languages through their transactions instead of using original and official language. Arabic is no longer given the respect it deserves. Of the estimated seven thousands languages spoken in the world today, only a fraction is expected to survive into the next century(1). This should awake us to make a step further and try to save our language from being lost. we should protect our language and make a change in our community. Put your hand in my hand and let’s work together for a sustainable and beautiful life.

Research:
- Problem
- Lost of Arabic language= lost of identity
- National people don’t use and speak their official language.
- Many signage on the street are translated in bad way.
- Many authorities still don’t use Arabic as their official language.
- Some foreigners don’t respect our language which increase it’s value.
- “To my knowledge, there is no nation that allows an invasion of foreign languages in government institutions the way we did in the UAE. The move will correct the imbalance,” Dr Ebtisam Al Kitbi, Professor of Political Science at the UAE University in Al Ain, told Gulf News.
- In this medieval period, the activity of translation had two clear objectives: to enrich the Arab world with what the rest of the world had to offer; and to enrich the rest of the world with what the Arab world had to offer. Today this tradition of translation has faltered. Modern Arabic translation fails to fulfill either of those early objectives in any comprehensive way.
- Today there is a lack of social awareness about the importance of translation, while trained and competent translators are few and far between. In addition there appears to be little political will to promote translation across the Arab world.
- The reason appears to be that translation is viewed as having no independent identity.
- Solution
- For road signage foreign language should be written in small size under the arabic language.
- Offer Arabic lessons to non-Arabic speakers.
- Many campaign launched to solve this problem such as Dubai municipality campaign.
- Dubai: The government last year decided to use Arabic as the official language in all federal authorities and establishments.
